"In 2017, I weighed approximately 350lbs and was diagnosed with fatty liver disease by two different doctors. I was told to adopt a healthy diet and exercise and all would be reversed. I did not heed the advice of my doctors and continued down the path of suicide via drive thru. In April of 2019, I took a Fibroscan test. A fibroscan is a non-invasive probe of the liver which measures the levels of fat and fibrosis/scarring of the liver. I was truly horrified to learn that my results put me in the advanced fibrosis/cirrhosis of the liver territory. Needless to say, I knew a drastic change was needed, or else I believed I would not survive having completed extensive research of liver disease. After a few months of diet and some self exercise, I put out an ad online and met personal trainer Lauren. Right off the bat, I can tell Lauren was unlike the personal trainers I had dealt with in the past. She didn’t require huge sums of money up front or ridiculous scheduling demands into the future. Instead, she provided very reasonable rates and gave me a schedule that spanned across several days that worked for both of us. When I first started training with her, I was approximately 235lb at 23% body fat. As I write this today, I am at 189lbs below 15% body fat and still counting! My metabolic age is now 10- it was 81 when I started my initial weight loss program after the fibroscan test back in May of this year, if you can believe it. Lauren is a great trainer for the following reasons: She customizes the workouts to your specific goals. Lauren is an elite athlete who has cross-trained in grappling and in other training, something I do currently as well. She designs my workouts for my specific needs and is meticulous in tracking my progress. Second, she provides dietary plans and bootcamp class (which I also enjoy) at no extra charge. Third, Lauren takes a personal interest in her clients. She is definitely more than just a trainer, she is a good friend. I can guarantee all her clients feel the same way about her. Lauren has pushed me as an athlete. I went from liver disease to strongman competitions, and I have only just begun. I hope to learn crossfit and eventually compete in that arena as well.
